I have been living on bread, pretzels, dry cereal, and jello for two weeks now. Two miserable weeks. For someone who really loves food its been pretty miserable to subside on things with little to no flavor and eating has become the biggest chore which has meant that I'm constantly hungry and nauseous.
Another weird combination.
And forcing myself to eat constantly all. day. long. Just to have something in my belly.
Until yesterday.
We had a breakthrough.
I came home from work and took a quick nap before a haircut appointment. I ate my obligatory piece of toast so I wouldn't wake up super nauseous. But instead I woke up 20 minutes before my appointment CRAVING something.
Praise God for a craving!!!
A Subway sandwich.
Not just any sammich.
Turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. And mustard. LOTS of mustard.
Now ask me to eat anything else in the entire world and I'll likely turn green and throw up on your feet.
Really.
But something about this sandwich.
But I couldn't go get it because I had to get to my appointment. Which basically had me in tears over the thought of having to wait two more hours to eat the one thing in the world that sounded good!
But I made it. The two hours.
And ordered my footlong and ate half of it in the car before leaving the parking lot and was practically crying tears of joy over the fact that I had real food in my belly!
Two hours later I finished the other half.
And the nausea returned, full force, but let me just say, if I'd had another six inch in the house I might have eaten it despite the nausea.
This morning, the minute Subway opened I ordered another footlong. And ate half again. The exact same sandwich. I've got the other half for later and honestly, I'm going to get another footlong to just have around the house and to have something for breakfast in the morning. Yep a turkey sub for breakfast.
Don't ask me to eat the same sandwich but homemade. That sounds gross. Weird, I know. Don't ask me to eat pizza, the chocolate cupcakes in the break room, a steak, anything else. I can't do it. Literally the thought of any other food in the entire world makes my stomach churn but not this sandwich. And I've literally never been more grateful for a sandwich in all my life!
All Hail Subway's turkey sammich!!! :P

Watch out Jarrod! Kat's in the house! haha! Glad you found something you are craving, and at least it has all of the food groups! Might want to check out their roasted chicken breast too if it's nitrate free (doubt their deli turkey is) and it tastes pretty darn similar. I hope the cravings keep coming for ya!

I am in tears laughing so hard!!! Glad you found something to satisfy your craving!!
ReplyDeleteOmg I went through the same thing and the first breakthrough I had was a subway sammy! Mine consisted of a nothing but veggies which is weird in itself (no meat whatsoever)and lots of sweet onion sauce. My breakthroughs don't come to often but at least the nausea has settled down a bit. I hope your just getting started on a new hunger quest! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious and I freaking love it. Yay for subway!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! I love it! Enjoy your turkey sandwich, mama!!!
ReplyDeleteI was laughing so hard reading this post. Not because you are feeling sick (that makes me sad) but because I can totally picture you waiting in the parking lot, running into Subway right when they open, and ordering a whole buncha turkey sammies. One for now, and a few for later. So glad that you finally felt a craving for something that didn't make you feel like you'd hurl!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming through for us preggos lady, Subway!
P.S. You should totally write Subway and tell them this story. Pretty sure they'd send you some coupons for some free subs or something :-)
Hugs,
Kara

Thanks but I only take advice from my doctor and she's perfectly okay with me eating cold lunch meat.
ReplyDeleteBesides I've lived my life in complete and total fear for each and every one of my pregnancies and the only thing I've learned is that there is nothing I can do to cause a miscarriage and nothing I can do to prevent a miscarriage.
Sounds reasonable! I am a total lurker here and should have first said congratulations and how happy I am for you!
